I played this game so much back then. Finding all the secret rooms in every level was fun. The music by David Wise was great, specially the underwater theme. One of the most memorable games for me on the SNES. Not sure how it holds up today really, nostalgia blinds me to the flaws in old games. DKC Returns on the Wii could have been so much better than this one if it had the option for traditional controls.

As much as I loved this game, I never really played any of the other ones. The SNES ones I didn’t play because they had to go changing characters. I wanted to do more Donkey and Diddy! lol
Donkey Kong 64 I didn’t care for because I did not care for that 3D world look for it. Also I REALLY wanted the same as the SNES but with nicer versions of those graphics we had on the SNES.
Returs had all those motion controls that I didn’t care for. Same with Tropical freeze. Although I am pretty sure I can play TF on the swith without motion controls, maybe I should give it an actual chance.
It was the same for me. I never played the sequels on the SNES due to being upset about DK not being in the games. As a hindsight this was a mistake since the sequel is considered the best one.
About the Wii version. I wonder if there’s a patch for the game that enables normal controller support.
