I know some people say anything before PS1 is Retro, some people say PS2, some people may not even include the PS1.
Personally I tend to go with the idea that if it has an HDMI port, then it’s not retro. Simply because to hook it up to a TV now a days, if it doesn’t have HDMI then chances are you can’t hook it up without some kind of adapter. So then to me that’s when something is “Retro”.
With that said, this would mean the Wii U is not retro or the XBox 360 (I think it had HDMI) so… not very sure. I mean, technically the Wii U is just 1 generation behind so… yea.
This is really subjective. It is really something you can’t define. To me it is anything that was made for old crt tvs. You could argue the Wii is not retro but to me the looks and graphics do look retro.
Personally I don’t even count XBox period LOL. But yes that’s just my own thing, I never cared too much about XBox because it was mostly sports games and stuff I didn’t care about, oddly enough, I think it was my first console mod. But that kind of makes sense, I modded it to use it as a media device
Lately there have been many releases of games for old consoles. Games using modern programming techniques, others with added memory for high storage capacity. Would you consider these games retro too?
Technically, if they are for a system I would consider retro lol.
Hey, I know it’s not a good line but I had to put a line somewhere and HDMI just seemed like a nice one lol If you need a special device to play it on the Modern TV, then it’s Retro lol.
